After the Marietta-based company was chosen on May 12, 2010 to install 16 artificial turf football fields for all Cobb County high schools, the Deluxe Athletics team went to work in a calculated fashion to make sure that as many fields as possible were ready for CCSD students and athletes to utilize for Fall and Spring sports. A major part of the project involved not only the construction in a timely and efficient manner, but the design and permitting of each separate school’s field.
“Gaskins Surveying and Engineering Company (www.gscsurvey.com), based in Marietta, did a superb job working with the individual schools and our in- house personnel for design, and Cobb County for permitting,” notes Chris Daniluk , President of Deluxe Athletics. |

“Their readiness and efficiency allowed us to break dirt at South Cobb High School (the first field completed), within twenty days of being awarded the project. It not only allowed us to immediately start ahead of schedule, but maintain and increase our time ahead of schedule throughout the project.”
Deluxe Athletics is comprised of basic divisions all run in house with their own personnel to cover everything from site work by Deluxe Grading, through quality assurance measures and construction of the fields by the TNT Installation arm of the company. These divisions allow all facets of the project from start to finish, to be handled under one roof. That is a rare combination in the synthetic turf industry which leads the clients to success in two major aspects, projects built on time and on budget.
With skilled and experienced personnel working on the project from day one, the Deluxe Athletics team was able to meet and exceed all contract dates for nine fields before the end of 2010, with numbers eleven and twelve completed in early 2011 with the remaining five schools receiving their new facilities over the summer. Notes Daniluk, “We are comprised from top to bottom with some of the best professionals in the industry, and that allowed everything to flow from the customer to the office and back in to the field for construction with seamless transition and translation of what was required. CCSD was also very efficient and timely with all their actions which created the perfect group to complete this project. Building sixteen facilities in fifteen months in a design build fashion before, during, and around school use and scheduling requires a lot of teamwork and effort from all parties. We definitely have achieved that with this project.”
South Cobb was the first field completed in July, followed by Walton High School, Kennesaw Mountain High School, and Pope High School in August. Campbell, Osborne, and Pebblebrook were completed in September, with McEachern and Wheeler completed in November and December respectively. Kell and Sprayberry High Schools were completed in early 2011. Lassiter, North Cobb, Allatoona, Hillgrove, and Harrison High Schools were completed in the Spring/Summer of 2011.
Noted Larry Wall, Director of Construction for Cobb County Schools: “Deluxe Athletics services were exemplary as these were quality projects delivered in a timely manner, while maintaining a good quality of workmanship and under budget. The construction process and installation was controlled, professional, and delivered on schedule. Any problems or concerns were dealt with in a timely manner in order to meet deadlines and customer satisfactions. Deluxe Athletics has a knowledgeable stall of management and field personnel. I hope to have the pleasure of working together in the near future.”
