Marietta, Georgia – July 31, 2009 – Deluxe Athletics, a leader in synthetic turf for commercial and residential use, was recently involved in the opening of the Cobb County Safety Village. Their donation included the application of synthetic turf around the replicated downtown square of Marietta, located just outside the training facility. The facility is truly the first of its kind for the state of Georgia.
“Being a company that operates out of Cobb County and is recognized by its peers as being a local business leader, naturally, we were excited and obliged to donate our time and expertise to such a worthy and unique project,” explained Chris Daniluk, founder and president of Deluxe Athletics. The Deluxe Athletics’ team originally met with Captain Scott Dodson about the idea and decided to partner with the County to help enhance the facility while reducing maintenance costs. |

The indoor safety training facility mimics a downtown streetscape with an interactive safety house, four safety education classrooms, two adult safety classrooms, an auditorium, a three-bay child passenger safety seat inspection station, a multi-purpose banquet room and staff office space.
The outdoor training village features scaled down buildings purchased by sponsors and constructed to simulate the look of Cobb County. It will be equipped with working traffic signals, railroad crossings, pedestrian crossings, a school bus and other interactive safety displays.
The grand opening featured a dedicational ceremony with Cobb County officials followed by a ribbon cutting and an open house for the public. The visitors were treated to tours, educational opportunities and hot dogs, while police officers and firefighters in Cobb County displayed their special vehicles, police dogs, and horses.
The training facility, at 1220 Al Bishop Drive in Marietta, sits on an 8-acre site.
